Google acquires Apture and Katango

Google recently acquired two startups for an undisclosed amount, these two include Apture and Katango which the company says would help enhance their user experience for its browse and social networking services. Apture mainly focused on in-page search and analytics for the same, while Katango builds algorithms for social networks to improve your online social interactions.

After its acquisition it seems that Apture would mainly work with Google’s Chrome team to help improve the browser experience, while Katango will play a major role in Google Plus where their social network-based algorithms will help improve Google’s social network.

“We have been acquired by Google and will be joining the Chrome team to continue driving innovation and creating a better user experience on the web,” Apture said on its site.

“We are excited to join the Google Plus team and carry on fulfilling that mission. Google Plus is seeing tremendous momentum, so it’s a perfect time to join and make Circles smarter for millions of people,” said Katango.

Google acquisitions just keep increasing as in the first nine months of 2011, the company acquired 57 companies for a total of $502 million. The company is estimated to have acquired 100 firms in the last decade with an average of 10 companies a year.
